I keep hearing about these mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX, Olympus, and Panasonic models. Smaller lighter and still decent image quality. So after reading some different reviews I decided to pickup a Lumix G6. What drew me to it was the video capabilities as I do not like the way my Nikon fails to focus or change exposure in video mode. The G6 has a standard 3.5mm port for plugging in an external mic which the sony's and olympus's do not. It arrived yesterday and I have been having fun playing with it. The image quality is not as good as from my Nikon D7000 but the wifi capability of being able to connect directly to my Nexus 4 smartphone and share pictures immediately or use the phone as a remote are things that my nikon simply can't touch. I have not edited the video yet, but so far I am impressed with the video features. It autofocuses fast and silently.
As far as still photos go the quality is pretty good and because it is smaller and lighter I will probably be taking it with me more places than my nikon. Here is a picture I took this evening of the sun going down and the beautiful color in the sky. Edits in Lightroom 5.
